Date Shake Recipe
A popular Palm Springs delight, the date shake really doesn’t taste as weird as it sounds. Legend has it, this delicious treat was created by a California date farmer back in the 1930s. Since then, the date shake has been a staple in Palm Springs, found at roadside stands along Coachella Valley. With this date shake recipe, we added a little twist by replacing the traditional vanilla ice cream with chocolate and topping the whole thing off with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle (you can find the recipe for our homemade caramel sauce here – just a note it does have whiskey in it but can easily be left out if you prefer a booze-free shake). Quick Tip: While you can use any type of dates for this shake, Medjool dates work best since they blend well.
