This deliciously sweet caramel sauce recipe combines sugar, water, butter heavy cream, a pinch of salt and a splash of Irish whiskey to honor the beloved distilled spirits of the Emerald Isle. Use it as a topping for ice cream, cake, brownies, pancakes, waffles, or whatever floats your boat! Or use as a dipping sauce for apples, pears, bananas, pretzels, or even bacon (trust us, it’s mmm-mmm good.) In a small sauce pan, combine sugar and water and bring to a boil. Do not stir.
Once the sugar-water has come to an amber color, turn off heat.
Add heavy cream and whisk until smooth.
Once smooth, add salt and butter. Keep whisking until butter is incorporated.
Pour in whiskey, give a quick stir and pour over the brownies.
