Summer fresh peaches are a treat. They’re the nectar of the gods. They’re sweet, succulent, and enticing. And when you’re walking through the fruit section of the grocery store, your olfactory senses just know when they’re perfect.
*sniff, sniff*
“The peaches are ripe! The peaches are ripe!”
And that’s when you grab as many as you can and start to make some plans.
“Oooh! I’m going to make peach cobbler, and peach lemonade, and peach salsa, and peach crisp, and I’m going to make a whole house out of peaches to live in forever, and ever, and ever!”
Okay.
Some of those plans are more realistic than others.
But, an insanely delicious peach cobbler kissed with earthy cardamom and slightly caramelly and boozy bourbon is totally doable.
This cobbler would be amazing with some vanilla ice cream or even whipped cream. Heck, it would be a delight with a glass of bourbon in your hand or a cold glass of milk! How you want to enjoy it is entirely up to you. But, we suggest you grab your F.N. Sharp Paring Knife, because it can handle the delicate peaches firmly but gently. And isn’t that how everyone wants their peaches treated?
Additional Thoughts: You know how when you make popovers, everyone screams, “Don’t open the oven door!!!” Well, there’s a golden rule with cobblers, too, and it’s: “Don’t stir the cobbler! Don’t stir the cobbler!” If you stir it together, the dessert will become homogeneous, and the beauty of a cobbler is the cute little islands of peaches popping through the cake.
Now, grab that handy little paring knife, get a small cutting board ready, and let’s slice up some peaches for some homemade cobbler!
