This recipe for mango habanero sauce is sweet, really spicy, and has a kick of acidity and citrus just to round things out. Did we mention that it’s also ridiculously delicious?
We read recently that capsaicin can boost dopamine. Dopamine makes you happy, which tracks with our experiences eating spicy food.
We have been known to yell, “WOO!” After eating something that sets our tongues aflame.
“Woo hoo!”
Yup. Those are happy, dopamine-fueled noises. (Although, shrieking that happily in a restaurant can make people smile or grimace depending on the volume of exuberance. Which is why it’s never a bad idea to cook at home!)
Bonus: This sauce gets a little sweet boost from carrots along with the mango, so along with the pleasure of the taste of the ingredients, you can feel a titch of virtuousness, too.
So, when life hands you both a mango and some habaneros, well, you know what to do. Grab that F.N. Sharp Damascus Steel Chef Knife, get that cutting board ready, and get to chopping!
