When it comes to Thanksgiving casseroles, people really do love their sweet potatoes! And count us happily among them. We love, love, love, sweet potatoes! They’re the perfect marriage between sweet and savory – and they can lean heavily in either direction, depending on what you pair them with.

In this case, we’re leaning into both aspects of one of our favorite root vegetables: Sweet potatoes with warming spices for the body of the casserole? Check. Maple syrup and chili powder to envelop the nuts? Check. Finally, finishing it off with sage and flaky salt? Oh, yeah.

Fun Fact: You can make this up to 3 days ahead! Just assemble the topping before baking.

Another Fun Fact: You can freeze the casserole too! Then, just defrost the casserole in the refrigerator the night before baking, and put the topping on just before popping it in the oven.

So, grab your F.N. Sharp Damascus Steel Chef's Knife, get that wooden cutting board ready and get to chopping! You’ve got some Thanksgiving guests to impress.
