Celebrate the Red, White & Blue Holidays With This Easy Recipe for Spicy Black Bean Burgers With Quick Pickled Red Onions

Recipe and photos by Launie Kettler

This recipe for air fryer black bean burgers is not just perfectly spicy, it’s also perfectly festive for celebrating the Red-White-and-Blue holidays!  What’s even better is it can be your new go-to burger recipe for when you’re feeling like you’re one documentary away from becoming a vegetarian. Seriously. The first thought we had when we bit into these bad boys was, “wowza!” – this is a flavor explosion worth celebrating!

The burgers are loaded with onions, barbecue sauce, chili powder, two kinds of paprika (for the “paprika heads” out there), cayenne, and cumin. Then, just to take the fantastic into the sublime, we melted mozzarella and topped it with blue cheese and quick pickled onions for the ultimate bite 😋

So, grab that humble looking can of black beans on your pantry shelf, get that cutting board ready, grab your F.N. Sharp utility knife, chef’s knife or Santoku and get ready for the flavor explosion
